Grief & Loss Therapy
Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Counseling for Parents Navigating the Pain of Losing a Baby or Child
You’re not alone in this pain – even if it feels that way
Every loss is unique. If you've lost a pregnancy, a baby, or a child, the pain may feel overwhelming—and often invisible to those around you. Whether your experience is recent or happened years ago, it may still shape how you feel, think, and connect.
At Bloom Psychotherapy, we offer warm, specialized therapy for people navigating these deeply personal and often misunderstood losses. We honour each type of loss with care that meets you where you are—offering safety, compassion, and space to process at your pace. You don’t have to go through this alone.
How Grief Might Show Up
These are normal responses to an abnormal loss. You're grieving. And that deserves tenderness.
We Support Grief After
Miscarriage
Whether it happened early or late in pregnancy, miscarriage is a profound loss. You may be grieving not just the pregnancy, but the dreams and identity that began forming the moment you knew. Many parents feel isolated—especially when others minimize the impact. At Bloom, we see your loss as real. You're not expected to “move on” quickly here. We'll hold space for your grief, in whatever form it takes.
Stillbirth
Stillbirth is a heartbreaking and often silent grief. You prepared, you hoped, and then experienced an unimaginable loss. The trauma of giving birth and leaving without your baby can feel unbearable. We offer gentle, trauma-informed therapy that honours your baby’s existence and your deep love. You deserve care that allows you to say their name, speak your truth, and find small ways to begin healing.
Infant or Child Loss
The death of a baby or child reshapes everything. It may impact your relationships, your identity, your ability to function. There are no words that can touch this pain—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. We create space for all your feelings, without pressure or timelines. We’ll walk with you through the grief, helping you find moments of connection, meaning, and eventual peace, however that looks for you.
Termination for Medical Reasons (TFMR)
TFMR is an incredibly complex and emotionally layered experience. You may be grieving a wanted baby, holding trauma from medical decisions, and feeling confusion, guilt, or isolation. This kind of loss is often unseen and rarely spoken about. At Bloom, you don’t have to explain or defend your experience. We provide nonjudgmental, inclusive support so you can process in your own way—on your own timeline.
Abortion
Abortion is a deeply personal and often complex experience. Whether your decision was based on medical reasons, personal choice, or unexpected circumstances, the emotional impact can range from relief to sadness, guilt, anger, or even numbness. All of it is valid.
Too often, abortion is treated as something to get past quickly, without space for the emotional aftermath. You may feel pressure to be “okay,” or unsure who it’s safe to talk to. Our role is to offer a space where you can process your experience at your own pace—free from shame, expectations, or explanations.
What Makes This Grief Unique
Loss around pregnancy and early parenthood often lacks rituals, community recognition, and space for mourning. The grief can be raw and unspoken. You might feel confused about what you're “allowed” to feel. The answer? Anything. Sadness, rage, relief, longing, guilt—every emotion has a place here. There is no wrong way to grieve.
No matter the type of loss or how others respond, we hold your experience with respect and compassion.

How Therapy Helps
You’ll be met where you are. Some clients want to talk. Others want to sit in silence with someone who understands. We might gently explore your loss, make space for your baby’s memory, or help you find tools to survive daily life. Whatever you need, it starts with trust and safety.
You don't have to carry this alone.
